Abstract:
Armenii au pornit integrarea în istoria orașului București cu multe secole în urmă. Alături de români, păstrând și propriile valori au locuit și și-au continuat propria identitate inserată ca parte componentă a orașului. Documentele mărturisesc despre ei în confruntări istorice și în toate domeniile aferente vieții. Breasla armenilor, ulița armenească, mahalaua, biserica armenească, hanuri ce au fost proprietăți ale armenilor, importanți negustori, implicare politică, concurență cu alte comunități și competivitate în spațiul locuit sunt doar o parte a istoricului lor în acest spațiu. Articolul se va baza pe documente istorice legate de istoricul armenilor în general și integrarea acestora în spațiul bucureștean, alături de menționarea importantelor amprente lăsate de comunitatea armenească în București.
The Armenians began integrating into the history of Bucharest many centuries ago. Alongside Romanians, while preserving their own values, they lived in and maintained a distinct identity as an integral component of the city. Historical documents attest to their involvement in significant conflicts and their contributions across all aspects of urban life. Elements such as the Armenian guild, the Armenian street, the neighborhood, the Armenian church, inns that were formerly Armenian properties, prominent merchants, political engagement, competition with other communities, and the overall competitive presence in the urban space represent only a part of their historical footprint. This article will rely on historical documents concerning the general history of Armenians and their integration into the Bucharest area, while also highlighting the important imprints left by the Armenian community in the city.
