Abstract:
Articolul de față este un traseu în timp în încercarea de a identifica și aduce în atenție vechile cruci bucureștene. De-a lungul timpului au fost menționate nenumărate cruci și troițe pe teritoriul Bucureștiului, realizate din piatră ori lemn, scrise sau decorate cu ornamente ori icoane, menite să păstreze memoria unor evenimente sau personalități. Crucea, simbolul cu cea mai puternică semnificație în lumea creștină, care are menirea de a-i comemora pe cei ce au pierit, va prelua și funcția de monument de for, nu doar funerar, cât și de piatră de hotar ori document epigrafic. Transformările succesive suferite de Orașul lui Bucur au condus la dispariția multor cruci, numărul vechilor cruci din piatră de pe arealul urban fiind unul considerabil redus.
The present article is a journey through time in an attempt to identify and bring to attention the old Bucharest crosses. Over time, countless crosses and road-crosses have been mentioned on the territory of Bucharest, made of stone or wood, written on or decorated with ornaments or icons, intended to preserve the memory of certain events or personalities. The cross, the symbol with the strongest meaning in the Christian world, which has the purpose of commemorating those who died, will also take over the function of a forum monument, beeing not only a funeral monument, but also a milestone or epigraphic document. The successive transformations suffered by the City of Bucur led to the disappearance of many crosses, the number of old stone crosses in the urban area being considerably reduced.
